Honor the life of one of CYC’s Founders
CYC lost one of its original founders and one of the club’s most ardent supporters. Mr. Art Ping Lee, age 106, was a highly respected member of the Chinese community of the Washington, DC area. He had a tremendous impact in DC’s Chinatown through his leadership roles with many of its business and family associations. Among them are: CCBA, On Leong Association, FreeMasons Association, Taiwan Embassy, TECRO, Lee’s Family Association, Lee’s Federal Credit Union, and CYC. He was an advisor and consultant to many who wanted to do business in the area, and understand the Chinese culture. He was a successful businessman himself, owning many small businesses throughout the years. In his later years, he was highly revered and was asked to attend many events as the honored guest. He was always the lead in the Washington, DC Chinatown Lunar New Year’s parade.
He and his wife had six children – Wallace, Louise, Lawrence, Beverly, Madeline (deceased) and Penney; many grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Art Ping Lee passed away peacefully this morning. May 16, 1914–September 30, 2020.
