For over 15 years, CYC has recognized and rewarded its members with scholarships for the student’s use towards college expenses and fees. In the past, the scholarships were associated with the name of the sponsor, such as the Mon Suey Lee scholarship, or Fong scholarship. Unless specified by the donor, CYC will award these under the general auspices of the club.

DETAILS FOR THE SCHOLARSHIP AWARD:
To be considered for the scholarships, the CYC member must provide an essay (250 words minimum) to address one of the following issues:

  1. CYC has been in existence serving the Chinese and Asian community since 1939. What are your thoughts on what CYC should be focusing on for the next few years in the Asian community? How would it be implemented?
  2. CYC is an authorized 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization. They exist on the generosity of donors, fees, and their self-managed fundraising efforts. What ideas can you offer for how CYC can augment their operating funds to ensure their ability to continue to offer its programs to the greater Washington Asian community?

A committee will evaluate the essays to determine the scholarship winners:
First Place: $1000.00, Second Place: $500.00, Third Place: $250.00. CYC will have the right to publish the winning essays.
